Afternoon Class of 2024,

 

It's that time of year again for our second plant fundraiser. The more you sell the more you fundraise. These items almost sell themselves. Remind those who are placing their orders online to please indicate who the order is for so that the correct grade 12 student receives the fundraised credit.

 

Orders need to be in Wed, Apr 24^th and orders need to be picked up by you and delivered to your customers, unless you have made other arrangements, on May 10^th.

Mario Kart gr 10-12 Tournament !!

Save the Date - Jan 25th - start your engines and get ready to compete ...

What: Mario Kart Tournament
Where: HSS Commons Room
When: Jan 25, 2024
Time: 3:30pm - end of tournament
Who: Grades 10-12 ONLY!!!
Why: Because it'll be a fun time 😊

Concession will be open - pizza by the slice, pop, chips, chocolate bars, popcorn, ... all the good stuff for gaming.

Class of 2024 Parent Committee Event

Update for the Mountainview Fundraiser – thank you to Carli and any others who have been part of this planning.

 

Grad 2024 Mountainview Brewing Fundraiser - Friday January 19th from 6 - 9 pm. All Money Raised will go directly to the Prom and Decor Fund

 

Pub Night Activities

Table Buy-In ($20 per table of 4-6 people, two cards provided per game)

 

Carli will organize the game cards with Mountainview

RAFFLE BASKETS:

 

Ten themed baskets to be raffled off

Starting bid $10 - 20 depending on the basket

Needed - parents to collect for 10 baskets 

Option for Parents to fund a basket

Baskets Due Monday, January 15^th, 2024 – please drop them off at the HSS office

• Spa/Pamper

We will be looking for parents willing to volunteer to either build one basket or FUND a basket that we can purchase. We will be needing a total of ten baskets in total. We will also need parents to sell tickets to the event and spread the word, sell 50/50 tickets, Toonie Bottle toss (if we are allowed at the brewery – Carli will double check on this)

 

Please email me if you can support and/or volunteer at this event and/or if you have other input into this event. Also, please let me know what basket you would like to sign up for or support the suggested themes or you can make your own – either is good 😊

Class of 2024 Prom Venue

Morning all,

 

From our grade 12 student and parent meeting at the end of Nov, Grad Exec was provided with a number of possible Class of 2024 Prom venues to discuss and consider. After the meeting, a few more venue options were suggested by other families.

 

List of possible venues that were discussed and considered: Rivers Edge Harrison Mills, Hope Secondary School Gymnasium, Chawathil Gymnasium, Shxw'ow'hamel Gymnasium, Hope Legion, Hope Curling Club, Sunshine Valley Banquet Hall, Valley Helicopters - Private Venue Barn, Hope Golf Club and the Fraser River Lodge.

 

There was much dialogue during the decision-making process as each potential venue was considered, thank you again to those parents and HSS staff who brought forth suggestions for consideration. Venue considerations were: location and distance, scenery, picturesque and landscape for grad/family/friend photos, costs associated with the venue – venue and/or equipment rentals – tables and seating, kitchen access and equipment for catering services, ease of decorating, ambience and mood, size and layout, acoustics and sound.

 

After all of the aforementioned considerations, the Grad Exec has determined the Class of 2024 will host this year's Prom at the Sunshine Valley Banquet Hall. Grad Exec will be asking those parents who wish to be part of the decorating team to please email me and I will create a decorating group so planning and organization can be coordinated. Lori's Catering from Agassiz will cater the event.

 

January will be a busy month of more fundraisers – many hands will make for lighter work.

 

School-Based: Mario Kart Jan 25, 2024, and a Guitar Hero Apr 17, 2024 competition; both with cash prizes and concessions and then a spring plant sale (April/May). We will be needing parents and students to help organize/prep, and decorate for this event.

 

Community/Parent-Based: bottle drive Feb 17, 2024, and the Class of 2024 Parent Planning Committee (still room for more to join in) are planning an exciting game-packed pub night at Mountain View Brewing Co. and a Hope Legion Meat Draw. We are still looking, needing and wanting more parents to join – lots of room on the committee – thank you!
